February hits in Anchorage and the smell of dogs is in the air, hot dogs that is. Fur Rondy came in with fireworks, dog racing, reindeer running, snow sculptures, the Crustacean 500, carnival rides and best of all, the hot dog stands are back up and running!
Saturday morning was beautiful, perfect for the Frostbite footrace, pancakes with the seniors at the Senior hall, parade and fur auction, yikes, good times.
Saturday night Seth and I had friends over for fireworks and dinner, good time. Seth made "Drunk Mama Cake," or something to that effect, hard to remember after eating a slice, delicious whatever you call it. Manage ah animal I called the meal, duck, Grandparent's beef, caribou, and salmon.
Sunday was running of the reindeer, which no one really knew what it meant, chaos really. Thousands in the streets of downtown, snow on 4th avenue and 12 reindeer feeling a bit crowded. 1,000 people ran carefully while 12 bewildered reindeer jogged at a nice pace along, costumes added the festive flare, that or lack of clothes for the braver few. Wandered to the snow sculptures, a few O.K ones.
