Frostbite foot race

The race this morning was really great conditions, big soft flakes of snow, lots of people in funny costumes and Seth, Gail and I in the heart of it having a lovely morning. The 2nd best part was running to the gym where we enjoyed a sauna!

The best weekend a kid could ask for

Well, Iditarod has started and things are really busy and great in Anchorage, which seems big because I don't generally dote on the city. Gail has been in town so we are showing her the sites. Last night the fam and friends came over for drinks and a little of Chef Seth's ceviche, makes living up here good to have the fam nearby. This morning it was the Frostbite Foot-race, sauna and showers at the gym, new Sagaya's for breakfast supplies. We walked from the house to dog races and saw some fast dogs! The sprint races are really great and smaller crowd too, now we eat giant late breakfast, lay near the fire and watch the fat snowflakes fall.

Well, we are in the house and things are going well! The little things are piling up to finish but it is a nice new house!! The UPS truck just pulled up! Pot rack here we come!
Nope, it was the Flor carpet samples. Bummer.

Gail comes on Friday and than a quick week to Fur Rondy. Fireworks, outhouse races, running races, ice sculptures, the Running of the Reindeer and the carnival! Ever heard of a carnival in Feb? It all happens across the bridge from our house and than they cover the roads with snow for the sprint dog races, skijorring and than Iditarod! Big times, big times.

No volcanic explosion yet, cross your fingers it doesn't happen, we've already had three snow days, anymore missing school and we have to make it up in May!!


The pictures I have put up imcompase a lot of time; choosing a cow to buy at Grandparent's, foaming the house and than the final move in. The little bull is named Puck, really nice little pet like thing that we couldn't buy because number 1 I couldn't eat him and number 2 he is a darwf and won't get any bigger. Grandpa keeps him in a little pen and brushed him and feeds him kelp and fish oil, number 3 I couldn't afford to keep Puck in the life he is accustomed to.

Beware, times are changing.

That right, shipped taken over, mutiny. It would be a true mutiny if the other side knew what happened, I took them by storm. This blog is mine, Seth's regime was toppled. The people spoke and now they have a new leader, me!!

The new leader is qualified like one should be, owner of a late model four door sedan, loves long underwear and has the spelling ability of a dyslexic 6th grader. That's right, watch out, she rules with an iron fist and sweaty feet.

What might we expect with the new facist regime? Well let's clear one thing up, no spell check, maybe more pink and more talk of carmello chocolate bars and odor eaters foot products. Sounds like your idea of a good time? you have found the right place, check this site twice weekly, updates are made during work hours and long lunches. Expect adventures, offensive grammar and pictures of a house that may never be finished in a very cold, dark land. Oh, and more cat pictures, who are we kidding? Everyone loves cats, espcially dressed in human clothes, that and monkeys, give the people what they demand!

This volcano seems simple enough, no smoke just fantastic pictures in the newspaper. It is posing a real problem for me (Bonnie) paper mache with 3rd graders is already like teaching cats to rollerskate them tell them we are having an earthquake when we are not and we squeeze under tables wet hands and gooey shirts and stay there until the fake earthquake it over, I say blow or not, but no more teasing us along Redoubt!!

ICE DAY III

Well, Seth and I awoke to morning number 3 of a phone call at 5am, no school. This officially means we will have an extra day of school in the summer when it is gorgeous and everyone would really rather be doing something else. This also makes it a 6 day weekend with Martin Luther King day, should've gone somewhere. Lucky Seth is heading to Seattle on Saturday afternoon for his friend Dylan's wedding reception in Seattle, should be a blast!

ICE DAY! PART II

It is officially day number 2 with no school here in Anchorage and I have to say another day of this and we will be working on extra days at the end of the school year. We were all whining about -20 even -39, than we wake-up one morning and it is 35 above, this afternoon reports of 54!! Bad roads, heavy clouds, Alyeska is closed and I have to say it's getting to be a bit of a bummer. Not a bummer sleeping in, watching afternoon T.V and meeting Seth for lunch though!

Anchorage and Mat-Su schools and university classes are closed again today because of icy streets and high winds. But the city has resumed most public bus service after suspending it earlier in the day.

BUSY

With the Christmas break, lots of snow, details at the house and the cold things have been busy. Visiting my mom and Larry at Orofino, than Gail and Melissa than Allan's house. The house is progressing and the temperature has been around -20!

Phase 2: painstakingly put house back together differently

Well the house has spewed out all it could really, we are down to the studs and whatever that sketchy looking insulation in the back rooms is, I'll put on my haz mat suit on for that one.

Seth has gone from demo man to structural engineer (they should've asked him to structurally evaluate his own home on the big test, scary!) now he is electrician soon to be framer and could he evolve into plumber too? Yes, yes he can and will. Bonnie is still an ambea in the cess pool of skill at grunt laborer.

After Thanksgiving comes the INSULATORS! Than the DRYWALLERS!

Still loving life staying at the Feje's with Uncle Bob's dinners, Erin's baking and Aunt Diane's cookies!

Looking forward to a visit with the fam soon in December and even sooner Thanksgiving at Grandma's house.

Phase 1: Rip the house to shreds

This week we officially moved out of the house and than proceeded to rip the c&*! out of it. I should've known what I was in for when Seth suggested we each have our own crowbar, mine is a feminine one, perfect for the girl about town. Turns out there was a lot behind those walls. First off the original house is a little yellow thing and you can see in these pictures where they just boarded up the windows and made the addition. Than the best part in my opinion (Bonnie) was yesterday when I was working to the groovy tunes of the Bee-Gees when I ripped into a mural circa 1960, a purple and gray hole of doom. As far as anything else uncovered unfortunately that is it. This weekend we'll take out the floor in the bedroom and rip into what will soon be a really big kitchen/great room. Get your crow bars kids it's going to be a dusty weekend!

Well, my mom is in town and Larry was out duck hunting. It is getting colder so I spose it is only right that vegetable canning and pickling start happening. Seth has been hard at work studying but this morning he took a little time off to pickle beets and make a large batch of swiss chard soup, not sure when he'll process the apples but it will be delicious. It has been nice to visit with Ma and chat with the fam, only too soon she will be leaving.

We have new couches and the cat has already taken to them very loveingly.
