We recently visited Grandma and Grandpa. We received our Christmas present a little late as we didn't make it up Christmas day, it was long night, Milo must've been excited for the big morning because he didn't sleep much.
In any case, we received 75$ in one dollar bills and 75$ in gold coins. In the bag we also had a poem and an article from the newspaper. It seems the federal government is broke and has excess gold coins it can't afford to store anymore, they are actually asking for 650,000 for another storage facility for the coins and 3 million to transport it to this new facility. So.... Grandpa sends a poem to explain how his gift is helping the economy:
December 14, 2011
A billion one dollar coins in storage and unused.
The treasury keeps cutting more, are you amused?
is you follow the plan I have proposed
You will help by spending the enclosed.
Get these dollars moving, send them on their way.
Spend like there is no tomorrow and no rainy day.
Forget about the Susie Orman and her savings plan.
You just have to spend and borrow all you can.
That Susie Orman says live below your means.
Isn't that silly advice, or so it seems.
How can we spend to keep our country healthy,
if all the poor souls save and want to be wealthy?
