Found these, they are goood

What do you think?

nice times

Well, we leave on Sunday and things have been busy leading up to it. Yesterday was supposed to Seth's company raft trip but it was cancelled due to low water levels so we had an unexpected day of productivity. New dishwasher, pot-rack, lots of painting, and Seth made a set of shelves.

Today we have to figure out how to get the birds to Hendrick and track down the girl who is watching Spycat, than someone has to clean this house and we are home free, homeless more like it. It's sunny outside so all that might be on hold while I go outside and soak up the rays for a minute, than when I am cold because I am wearing shorts I will go to the garage sale down the street, not the picture of productivity.

Meghan was housesitting the other night, she had a potluck and invited 8 people to help her fine tune a circus trick she is performing in McCarthy for their 4th of July parade. It was the most laughing I have done in a long time, most of her untrustworthy assistants were laughing and drinking while holding her on a tight rope, she is very trusting. I was her special assistant that is why I was able to take pictures and not be a rope lackey.

In other news Seth wore a white glove all day in remembrance of his favorite pop icon, hehe.

Oh, can't forget yesterday night, also good times, Bonnie, I get a little coffee with heavy whipping cream in it and I am FLAKEY!! After a company BBQ at the Eagle River campground Seth and I went to our soccer game, I watched and waited for ankle to heal and the Unicorns only lost 1- 0, which might be a team best, minus last week of course. Ashley and Hendrick played, it was a great time, lots of brothers and sisters and spouses on the team, we are very cohessed- (that might be a fake word). Afterwards we headed to beer, Ashley leaves for Peru and the Galapagos tonight, boy that will be a good, very good time, Seattle will be good but the Galapagos is very, very good.

Trip to the top of Alyeska

These are some pics from the trip today up on the tram and the inside of the ammunitions bunker, very good times. It is finally sunny outside, now if I wasn't laying on the couch icing my ankle, no soccer game for me tonight, Seth will have to represent the household.

Summer Solstice

The longest day of the year started early for us, we headed to a baseball game, 10:30 pm was start time. It was cold but the company was good, we stayed until 1:30 am, there were no points so we biked home. The following pictures are around 2 am on the solstice, pretty good ah?

Big earthquake yesterday, everyone was talking about it, I was driving and didn't feel it or any of the after shocks, seems anyone in a building with more than 3 floors really, really felt it.

Today it is raining and cold, the cat wouldn't even go outside. As for me I am heading to Girdwood with Seth to check out the avalancher (gun that shoots dynamite into the snow above ski area to control avalanches) he engineered at the top of Mt. Alyeska, we get to either drive to the top or take the tram, it is a big day for the unemployed.

A dog is too much responsibility

Yesterday I volunteered to wash dad's dog Ginger and keep her overnight. Dad said she was dirty, I thought that just meant she looked the way she always looks....... wrong. I picker her up and couldn't stop laughing, she must have spent all day outside underneath the birch trees, the aphids have been going crazy in this warm weather and drop a sticky kind of juice on the ground, Gingy was covered in it, she looked like she rolled in oil. I took her home and tried to wash her, note to self, cow dogs don't like water. Once she was covered in dish soap she wandered away to roll in the dust, I had to pick her up and carry her back. Now that she is clean she lays on the rug and wines until I pay attention to her, even though she wines and is high strung but she is really my favorite dog ever. The pictures of the river are from our run, Seth takes the Ship Creek trail almost every night, really beautiful. Lots of people down at Ship Creek for the salmon derby but up the trail a bit you would hardly know you are in the downtown of a large city. Most days kids float down the river and than run back up the bike trail, it was empty the night I took this picture, it was about dinner time.

Hundreds of people converged on the Anchorage Assembly chambers Tuesday night to discuss a question that has challenged the city for decades: whether legal protections in city law against discrimination in employment, housing and finance should be extended to gays, lesbians and bisexuals
.

I sit down at the computer this morning with sinking feeling in my stomach, the feeling I get when I feel helpless and conflicted. The events of last night haven't dimmed, it seems I have had my first real brush with prejudice. I sit here so full of feelings and words but not enough to adequately explain to you in words.

Last night after work Seth and I managed to find each other in a huge crowd and managed to spend a few hours showing support for the Gay community in what turned out to be one hell of a night. I'll admit when I first showed up and walked down the road to the Anchorage Assembly chambers it was all too much. Young children and teens dressed in red with pre-made signs full of prejudice, hate and fear lined the street, larger groups lined the sidewalks all around the assembly chambers. It took me a good 10 minutes to pick my jaw up off the sidewalk and get a grip, I was surrounded by homophobic Baptist Temple followers; Jerry Prevo had bussed his followers in to the Loussac Library where the assembly was to meet that night. Seth showed up, didn't even see him walk across the street, between the chanting and music it was hard to concentrate on anything, he had been inside the meeting to check on progress and sign-up to testify in support of the bill. We stared in disbelief at the huge crowd, I was worried I would see students or acquaintances dressed in red. After pinning on paper EQUALITY button I made for us we wondered over closer to the doors to see what the situation was. In small bunches we found people wearing the same color we were, blue, for equality and started to recognize faces of friends and local politicians. Someone handed us signs and there we were, a disheartening few in a sea of uneducated Baptists, many of them children. We cheered for same sex couples who were finished giving testimony inside the assembly meeting and walked hand in hand down the middle of the road, filled to brim with protestors. We cheered and whistled for the EQUALITY sign that was paraded down the center, there seemed to be a little light in the storm after-all. I won't lie, the highlight of my evening was when I was mistaken for local liberal radio/blogger Shannyn Moore.

Unquestionably Seth and I were uncomfortable but a little respite came in the form of a Korean Baptist women who slapped her bible and repeated "One Man, One Women." The bible was falling apart, she was going horse and provided a comic relief, she was taking down her own team with her crazy ramblings. I politely pointed out Proposition 64 was not about the merits of Gay marriage but equal housing and hiring practices, crazy lady stared at me than returned to thumping her bible and scaring small children. It seems education and research is not a Baptist Temple's strong point, many seemed to not understand why they were even there.

Two hours later and a headache later we headed home. I headed to a soccer game where I we happened to play a young team, many of which I recognized from the rally just an hour before. We were defeated but it was fun, our team is full of great sports with positive attitudes, I told them about my experience that night, turns out one team member was there wearing blue as well, they all were excited to head to the assembly next week to show support and we all agreed to give it 100% in the finals where we will again play the young Baptist team, us being the Unicorns we decided it wouldn't be that hard to give them a hard time, nothing like a man with a tight fitting yellow unicorn on his chest to scare a homophobic Baptist.

This might explain it....

It is hard to explain to anyone who calls what I am up to from around 9 to 11:30, this might help..................

A warm fire, nice view, good coffee, endless 1/2 and 1/2, (finally quit kidding myself and buy it from Costco) and a slim morning newspaper. It is hard to motivate unless it is really sunny, and in that case I just take the whole scenario outside.
